This rainbow in a cloud (Genesis
9:9-17) appeared as I rode the bus to the airport for my trip. I was struck
by the fact that the only other person who apparently saw (and also photographed) this unusual occurrence was an Asian girl. I would meet many Asians, particularly Koreans on the trip.

Evidence of the Christian era in Ephesus.

A view from the vast amphitheater at Ephesus with a view of the main road leading to what was
a significant port two thousand years ago.

Me, in front of the House of the Virgin Mary.
The building has been reconstructed, but the first few feet up from the ground is original in many places.

An ancient Roman bath near the main Byzantine gate in Hieropolis that was later
converted into a Christian church. Known for a special dying technique, Hieropolis may be the place of origin of the
purple textiles sold by Lydia in Philippi that's described in the Book of Acts.

Steaming pools formed by the hot spring above Pamukkale. Water cascades down the snow-like formations created by the mineral rich water.

The Basilica of Philip (best remembered for baptizing the Ethiopian in Acts chapter 8) on a promontory above Hieropolis. The perfect place
for lunch and an extra-special afternoon bible study.

The first Christian cave monastery I visited in Cappadocia.

This monastery in the Underground City at Cappadocia
has two long benches for students to sit on that are obscured by the gloam.

A large cave in Cappadocia used for communal meals.

An image of Jesus from from the UNESCO-restored "Dark" Church
at Goreme Open Air Museum.

An alter in a cave church at Goreme in Cappadocia.

Imagination Valley

The mystery cave complex "beyond Lystra."

This cave near Lystra is eerily similar to church caves and alters in Cappadocia.
